International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC)

The IEYC launched in 2016, and is our International Early Years Curriculum for children aged 2–5 years old. It is used by over 500 nurseries and early year settings, in 60 countries worldwide. Improving learning in early years settings was part of our International Primary Curriculum for over 15 years. However, informed by new research, and feedback from member schools, it was clear that a new curriculum was needed to meet the needs of children at this crucial stage of their development. That was why we developed the IEYC.

The IEYC uses international best practices, holistic enquiry and play-based approaches that cover all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development.

  • Present in 98 countries

  • More than 2,000 schools

  • 30 years of operating experience

Outstanding advantages of IEYC
  • The IEYC is available to all nursery and early years settings and requires no formal pre-qualifications to be implemented
  • It is designed around eight learning principles that we consider essential to children’s learning and development
  • The IEYC is flexible and works alongside your national curriculum whilst offering the structure required to suit all teachers
  • Our unique process of learning shifts the focus from measuring outcomes to driving children’s learning and development
  • There are eighteen learning units available based around exciting themes which capture children’s natural curiosity
  • It is an ideal tool for the transition phase between early and formal education and can be extended to include older children in settings and countries where early years’ education goes beyond the age of 5
  • The IEYC covers all the aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage provision, including learning goals and developmental stages
  • Assessment is done using observation and interactions by teachers, children and parents/carers to achieve a holistic view on a child’s development, recorded in learning journals

Units of Learning: The units are based around exciting themes aimed to capture children’s natural curiosity.
